Dreams of Life

"Dreams of Life", an activity held in school in Delhi during summer camps organized by Pratham EDucation Foundation.

by Tarun Khullar,

“sir muje teacher bnna hai”, “sir mai actress bnungi”, “sir mai artist bnunga, 1 crore ki painting bechunga”, “sir mai police mei jaunga, meko Delhi mei chor pkdne hain, firr unki pitai krunga”, “muje Virat Kohli jessa bnna hai”, WOW! Dreams, the very being of us to live for, a student may represent an aspect of yourself. You are learning something in the dream, or you have an opportunity to learn something new in waking life, which you may not be taking advantage of.

The budding minds in the playground near the largest tree, it’s raining today, the blissful environment, cold air blows, relief from the scorching summer heat. The kids have their passions and dreams written on colorful pieces of paper, no one knows what the other has written as no one mentioned their names on the papers. Then the Pratham team soon ties these with a thread and hangs them up on the branches of the tree. “Scintillating”, I would say the view was, it enchants you within giving you goose bumps, energy is alive and ready to be flown into the atmosphere.

There I go, one more day at the school, chance to mingle up once again with the amazing buddies, oh yes! I have made friends due to my past visits now. Standing near them, no one noticed, all kids gazing their dreams, their passions, their glorifying imaginations in eyes. Loud came the noise, “Sir aa gye!!!”, and all came running towards me, holding my hands and pulling me literally, “sir meri dream dekho”, “sir mera best hai, idhr aao”, and I am back to the nostalgic circle, running here and there to read everyone’s dream. That smile on my face was enough to tell how much delighted I was to be a part of the program.
“Sir aap bde hoke kya bnoge” came a loud voice, to which I replied, “Inna bda ho gya bhai, aur kina bda hou”, all were laughing like anything, but seriously I replied, “Kuch bhi bnu, but acha insaan bnu always”, to which all said yes. Isn’t it so angelic to feel right now? Well I felt it, I felt the emotions running high amongst everyone there, the aura was engaging and replicating efforts for the same. The summer camp made it specifically relative to the interests of these kids. The teacher asked all, ”How do you plan to pursue your dreams”, to which all replied in a sync, “mehnat krke, acha insaan bnke, pdhke”. The light rain really commemorated to the dreamland of thoughts, and I was a witness of an epic moment.
